READY! for Kindergarten

This early learning program supports parents in their role as their child's first and most influential teacher.

When it comes to early learning, young children learn best through engagement with people they love and trust. READY! for Kindergarten workshops encourage parents to talk, sing, read and play with their child in simple ways that foster essential pre-literacy, pre-math and social-emotional skills. The age-appropriate activities are designed to begin at birth and continue through age five. This curriculum, created by the Children’s Reading Foundation, is based on current research and replicates what parents and educators of successful students have done for years. READY! is also available for child care providers, for more information email ready@idahoaeyc.org.

Each workshop provides FREE learning resources for families thanks  to the Dove Foundation and CapEd Credit Union's generous support.

What You Do Matters

Reading together 20 minutes every day teaches most school readiness skills (e.g., vocabulary, counting, colors, social skills, etc.). Children need to enter school with basic reading, math, social and emotional skills. From birth to age 5, when a child’s brain develops rapidly, is the time to build the foundation of cognitive abilities and character.
